2. TAN SRI ABDUL KHALID IBRAHIM BACKGROUND
Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim was born on December 14, 1946, in Kampung Jalan Raja Abdullah Jeram, Kuala Selangor, and died on July 31, 2022, at the Cardiac Vascular Sentral Hospital, Kuala Lumpur, due to an infection in the heart valve. He married Puan Sri Salbiah Tunut and was blessed with 4 children a boy and 3 girls.
On 1956, he enrolled in Sekolah Melayu Jeram and took Special Malay Class. Following that, attend Kampung Kuantan English School. In 1975, he earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Queensland in Australia after earning a bachelor's degree in economics with honours from the University of Malaya.
He has held a number of prominent roles at Permodalan Nasional Berhad and has worked as a teacher, university professor, credit officer, and corporate finance officer (PNB). He then entered the corporate world, serving as CEO of the government-supervised banking corporation Permodalan Nasional Berhad from 1979 until 1994. (PNB). His "dawn raid" on the London Stock Exchange in 1981, during which PNB distributed 51% of the shares of the British industrial business Guthrie in less than two hours, made him renowned. He served as the CEO of Malaysianized Guthrie, presently known as Kumpulan Guthrie Bhd, from 1995 to 2003.
He then quit his job in business to enter politics, joining the People's Justice Party (PKR). His arrival into the party as an economic leader and initially as PKR Treasurer and Head of Selangor PKR Relations created a new tone for the opposition alliance that later became known as Pakatan Rakyat. He contested for the State Assembly seat N11 Ijok and the Parliamentary seat P124 Bandar Tun Razak for the 2008 Malaysian general election on March 8, 2008, and he won both. On March 8, 2008, Khalid won the Ijok state assembly with 7,196 votes over Datuk Mohamed Sayuti Said of the BN's 5,276 votes.
On March 13, 2008, in Istana Bukit Kayangan in Shah Alam, Selangor, he was sworn in as the 14th Menteri Besar of Selangor. served from 2008 to 2014 as the Menteri Besar of Selangor. He was the first person to be chosen as Menteri Besar of Selangor who did not represent a Barisan Nasional component party.
